Mushin Local Government in Lagos

As part of his drive to consolidate on the ongoing transformation in Mushin Local Government, the Executive Chairman – Hon. Emmanuel Bamigboye, today presented a budget of Ten Billion, Three Hundred and Seven Million, Nine Hundred and Eighty-Eight Thousand, Nine Hundred and Thirty Six Naira and Thirty Nine Kobo only (10,307,988,936:39), before the councillors, for consideration and passage for year 2025.

While presenting the budget before the members of the Legislative Arm, comprising all the councillors representing the various Wards in the chamber of Mushin Local Government, the council boss, confirmed the budget presentation, as a reaffirmation of his administration’s commitment to building a prosperous, inclusive and sustainable development in Mushin.

He expressed his appreciation to God for granting him and members of his cabinet, the opportunity to serve the people of Mushin. He also thanked the Executive Governor of Lagos State – Mr. Babatunde Sanwo – Olu, for his support through numerous development projects in Mushin.

Hon. Bamigboye emphasised that he has completed over 90% of his projects which included; Road construction and rehabilitation, construction of classroom blocks, construction and rehabilitation of new Primary Healthcare Centres, construction of Market buildings, Educational support programmes, skills acquisition and empowerment programmes for youths and women.

The 10 billion naira budget of consolidation, which is a testament of the determination to make every naira count, has 60% capital expenditure and 40% recurrent expenditure, with the following highlights:

  • Infrastructure and Urban Development (completion of on-going road projects and drainage construction)
  • Education and Capacity building (construction and renovation of public schools with expansion of scholarship programmes and vocational training initiatives)
  • Health Delivery (equipping more primary healthcare centres with modern facilities)
  • Youth and Women Empowerment programmes.

In order to achieve these, the chairman reiterated the need for financial discipline and transparency, with the utilisation of funds available to the local government through Internally General Revenue, Statutory Allocations and Development Grants, as his administration is committed to providing regular updates for accountability.

In his address, leader of the Legislative Arm, Hon. Olawale Ayegbayo, commended the chairman, for his giant strides and accomplishment in the areas of infrastructure, health, education, security and Environmental sanitation.

Hon. Ayegbayo thanked him for providing the councillors with a befitting legislative chamber and well equipped offices, which has contributed into the passage of 22 resolutions, and making of 12 additional Bye – Laws in June, 2024.

He stated that the councillors also passed historic bills which included; the establishment of a Radio station, naming the newly constructed Oliyide Annexe office as “Senator Ganiyu Olanrewaju Solomon House” and the just completed Idi – Araba Primary Healthcare Centre as “Hon. Emmanuel Bamigboye Healthcare Centre”.

The legislative leader however assured the chairman of their cooperation, by giving the proposed budget the required attention with accelerated reading and passage on the floors of the chambers, in order to allow the people of Mushin Local Government, enjoy the full provisions of the 2025 budget.

In their usual tradition, the Executive Chairman of Mushin Local Government, Hon. Emmanuel Bamigboye, later presented the proposed financial document to the Clerk of the house – Mrs Bukola Tijani, who later delivered the documents to the leader of the Legislative Arm – Hon. Olawale Ayegbayo.

The legislative chamber was filled with stakeholders including; Vice Chairman – Hon. Tunbosun Aruwe, Secretary to the Local Government – Mrs. Olubunmi Gbadamosi, former House Leader and Oba of Odi Olowo Kingdom, HRM. Oba Sikirulai Olamide Williams, Council Manager – Mrs. Adepeju Ogidan, Council Treasurer – Mrs. Olanike Folikwe, Supervisors, Heads of Departments, Special Advisers/Assistants, APC chairman – Alhaji Babatunde Shitta – Bey and leaders of the party in Mushin, representatives of members of the House of Representatives and Lagos State House of Assembly (Mushin Constituency 02), Community leaders, religious leaders and staff of Mushin Local Government.
